A partnership between BeyondHousing, Peter & Lyndy White Foundation and Diverse Builders has delivered the first four of eleven new one-bedroom homes for single people in the Goulburn & Ovens Murray regions.

BeyondHousing CEO, Celia Adams said the four new homes in Wangaratta addressed a shortfall in affordable and appropriate housing for single people.
“Last financial year, we assisted more than 3,500 people who were homeless or at risk of homelessness. Over half of them were single people, on extremely low incomes. With the shortage of affordable housing for single people, many people at risk of homelessness have very limited options,” Ms Adams said.
“People who are living alone and on a low income or Newstart allowance find it almost impossible to pay market rent and still have money to meet other essential costs of living.”

BeyondHousing worked closely with Diverse Builders with the homes designed to maximise space and liveability as well as enhance quality of life for their tenants. Each of the homes has a 6-star energy rating to help alleviate cost of living pressures, as well as proximity to shops, services and public transport considered prior to construction.
Peter Wells from Diverse Builders said they enjoy working with BeyondHousing, building quality homes for people in need and keeping local people in work, such as builders and trades.
“We are very fortunate to be able to work with BeyondHousing on projects such as this, that make a tangible contribution to our local community,” Mr Wells said.
