When our clients retired and made the decision to move from suburbia to an acreage block out of Numurkah, they knew they wanted to build a home that fitted in with their new surroundings; something large and airy where they could entertain, relax and enjoy their pampered pets.

But one of the first challenges to overcome was the risk of their building site flooding. It was an issue Diverse Builders overcame with plans that set the new home’s floor level one metre above ground level.

Large open spaces

Our client’s home is an entertainer’s dream with its formal dining room designed specifically to fit their 10-seater table and a substantial outdoor living area. Complete with a built-in BBQ, it is adjacent to their pool and overlooks rural views.

The three-bedroom home, which achieved a 6-star energy rating, features a veneer of splitface blockwork. It has a double garage, study, two bathrooms, recreation room, open meals and family room, formal dining room and a modern kitchen with large walk-in-pantry. Our clients also have plenty of storage, with two walls of built-in cupboards in the study, two linen cupboards and large robes in each bedroom.

Lifestyle factors, even for cats

Our clients share their home with six ragdoll cats and two dogs, who were factored into the house plans. They have their own courtyard, which they can access through a built-in cat-door in the laundry, enabling them to enjoy the outdoors as they please.
